The branch headed by Dy.Dist.Election Officer, works under control, supervision of District Election Officer and Collector. Primarily this is supervisory Office.
Works undertaken by this branch are
- Preparation of Photo Electoral Roll of Assembly Constituencies
- Preparation of Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC)
- Elections/bye elections to the House of People and Legislative Assembly/Council
- Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guarantee Act 2005(MGNREGA)
- Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(MREGS)
- Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS)
The Principal aim of MREGS is to provide gurantee of unskilled employment to registered Labour. An Adult person living in rural area and willing to does unskilled work can register his/her name to Gramsevak of that Gram Panchayat. They will be given a job card with photo.
Following works can be taken under this Act -
- water conservation and water harvesting;
- drought proofing, including aforestation and tree plantation;
- Irrigation canals, including micro and minor irrigation works.
- provision of irrigation facility, plantation, horticulture, land development to land owned by households belonging to the SC/ST, or to land of the beneficiaries of land reforms, or to land of the beneficiaries under the Indira Awas Yojana/BPL families
- Renovation of traditional water bodies, including de-silting of tanks;
- land development;
- flood-control and protection works, including drainage in waterlogged areas;
- Rural connectivity to provide all-weather access. The construction of roads may include culverts where necessary, and within the village area may be taken up along with drains. Care should be taken not to take up roads included in the PMGSY network under NREGA. No cement concrete roads should be taken up under NREGA. Priority should be given to roads that give access to SC/ST habitations;
